Choose Your Summer Adventures

It's not too early to start planning for summer. Explore the wonderful world of animals through Summer Camp adventures at the Zoo that include animal experiences, exclusive exhibit visits, bus rides, games, and crafts! Each camp is a five-day adventure, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (except for our half-day Pre-K camp, from 9 a.m. to noon). Extended Fun options that let your camper stay at the Zoo longer are available at extra cost. Teen Camp adventures allow you to choose a one-day adventure or a full week of fun—with two topics from which to choose. Adventures in Art is a blended art camp for grades 4 through 12, available to all skill levels.

Please select by the grade your child will be entering in the fall.

Pre-K

  • Cub Camp: Shake Your Tail!

    Jungle boogie through the Zoo—with a hop, a skip, and a jump, your camper will explore critter moves and grooves! Fanciful footwork, whimsical whirling, and synchronized strutting will highlight some of the Animal Kingdom's greatest performers. It's sure to put a spring in their step!

  • Cub Camp: Wild Child!

    YOU belong in the Zoo! Your nature-loving preeschooler will make some wild friends while camping in the Zoo. We will have all of the creature comforts while exploring the wilds of Africa Rocks, the Lost Forest, and Elephant Odyssey—perfect for kids who are wild at heart!

  • Cub Camp: A SENSE of Adventure!

    Animal senses are wild! Your camper is sure to have a sense-ational time as we explore the fascinating world of animal vision, smell, hearing, touch, and taste. It's sure to leave them feeling like a wild explorer.

  • Cub Camp: Animals Play!

    From the independent adventurer to group games and family fun, animals play! Your camper will enjoy a wild play date with some crafty creatures. Animal play builds sly and strong cubs, kittens, and calves. Play along, and have some fun!

    Campers will discover birds that would rather not fly, monkeys that aren't in the swing of things, and other animals that prefer to stay close to the ground.

Grades 9-12

  • Teen Camp: Behind the Eye of the Camera

    Make it a one-day adventure, or choose a full week of fun!

    Teens may be able to take photography at school, but not like at the San Diego Zoo! Teens learn basic to professional composition, exposure, focusing, lighting, and editing, and will be doing it with their cameras focused on the animals at the San Diego Zoo! As a digital media camper, our instructor will base your teen's experience on individual needs. Teens will have unique animal experiences and will get to hang with like-minded peers who see photography as a way of self-expression. Combining current skills with new tricks, teens will be able to showcase their work with others, including a spot on the Zoo's website!

  • Teen Camp: Epic Challenges!

    Make it a one-day adventure, or choose a full week of fun!

    Working with animals is pretty amazing, but it can also include unique challenges for the experts who work with them—like keepers, vets, trainers, and nutritionists, to name a few. It takes thinking outside the box to resolve these challenges. Teens are presented with fun and thought-provoking challenges to tackle within teams throughout the Zoo. Be ready for adventure, animals, creative problem-solving, and a whole lot of fun! For grades 9-12.
